Preschoolers love taking swimming lessons at Cal Elite! Our teachers are experienced, professional experts in teaching young children to swim. Our classes are taught in a gentle, yet progressive environment with a focus on teaching excellent swimming skills. Learning to swim is a critical skill for every preschooler – it is also a wonderful life skill that when taught well, can open the door to many years of fun and enjoyment. At Cal Elite, we teach children to swim.
Little Dippers (Ages 3 - 8 months)
(Class ratio 8:1) Parent is in the water with baby.
Being in the water with your little one is an amazing and rewarding experience. Let us show you what they are capable of. Class will focus on water acclimation, comfort in the water, balance and buoyancy, introduction to back floating and an introduction to water safety skills. It is a wonderful experience for parent and child bonding! The child has an adult (parent or other) in the water with him/her at all times.
Baby & Me (Ages 6 months - 2 1/2 years)
(Class ratio 6:1) Parent is in the water with baby | Washable swim diaper REQUIRED.
Baby & Me classes are designed to provide a positive and comfortable water experience for babies. This class will help your child gain the basic skills needed to participate in the more independent learning environment of our preschool swim program. Babies are gently introduced to floating skills, breath control, submersion, and whole body movement through the water. Parents will learn the proper techniques for working with their baby in the water, lending to baby’s comfort and progress.
Waterbugs (Ages 2 1/2 - 4 years)

Waterbugs are introduced to age appropriate skills that will progressively prepare them to learn to swim. Swimming lessons are a new experience for most Waterbugs! Apprehensions are overcome as Waterbugs develop early swimming skills related to buoyancy, propulsion and breathing. In this class, they gain independence in the water and progress to swimming across our pool with roll over breathing.
Sharkies (Ages 4 – 6 years)

Sharkies continue to build upon the foundation of basic swimming skills, adding age appropriate skills in flexible progressions. New focus is placed on correct form and technique lending to stronger swim skills in more advanced levels. Sharkies transition to side breathing for their freestyle and are introduced to backstroke.
Clownfish (Ages 6 - 8 years)

Clownfish is based on a stroke development curriculum focusing on the 4 competitive swim strokes. Students rely on fundamental swim skills and work toward more refined technique and form. Emphasis is placed on stroke efficiency and gaining strength and endurance in the water.
Aquanauts (Ages 5 - 13 years)
(Class ratio 10:1)
Aquanauts is designed to take the proficient swimmer to the next level! Students develop skills required by swim teams and junior lifeguard programs. They become stronger swimmers through conditioning and learn the FUN-damentals of other aquatic activities such as water polo, surfing and more!
*Requires evaluation or teacher recommendation.
Semi Private Lessons

The student to teacher ratio is 2 to 1.
This format provides individualized attention based on the needs of the student.
The student to teacher ratio is 1 to 1.
Swim Intensives are a great way to jump start your swim experience or give that extra kick! Lessons are 30 minutes 4 days a week, with a ratio of 4 to 1. Swim intensives begin March and run all summer. All ages and abilities are welcome. Junior Lifeguard Prep Class (Ages 7 and older )
The Junior Lifeguard prep class is designed to help prepare a child for the various requirements of the many Orange County Junior Guard programs. This will be a 6 week class, Mondays 6:30-7:30 PM (one hour per week) beginning April 8th through May 13th. The cost for the 6 week class is $150. Must be 7 years of age or older.
*Participants must be able to swim a minimum of 50 yards consecutively freestyle stroke.
Skills to be covered include:
- Building endurance to swim 100 yards consecutively under specific time requirements
- Underwater swimming techniques
- Treading water for 5 minutes or more
- Mock rescues
- Basic first aid
